Video by Telegram 71 showing the complete design of the Sendai Mediateque, by Toyo Ito, from the initial idea to the final product.
Located on a 50 x 50 meter (165 x 165 ft), the mediateque hosts various functions: a library, internet connection points, DVD showing areas, galleries and cafés. Given that it is located in front of a grove of trees, the architect opted for transparency, giving wide views onto the trees, even as they absorbed the structure. More than anything, the design of the mediateque aims to allow space and light to flow between the different levels of the building.
